Edinburgh
Edinburgh Airport connects Scotland’s capital to 68 destinations, with 39 airlines serving around 8.6 million passengers a year.
How did we perform?
In a year of solid figures, we introduced over 20 new international services, consolidating our position as one of Europe’s top regional airports. Passenger numbers rose by 2% to 8.7 million with underlying revenues of £61 million and underlying operating profit of £27 million. While we are extremely encouraged by an increase in customer satisfaction scores from 4.1 to 4.2 (5 = excellent; 1 = poor), we know there’s more we can do.
How will expansion help things?
The major development at Edinburgh was the official opening of our £19 million south-east pier terminal expansion. The pier provides six additional boarding gates, reducing the airport’s demand for coaches by 70%, and new retail and lounge facilities, using some of the latest energy saving technology - all helping us to reduce the airport’s impact on the environment.
July saw the unveiling of the airport’s master plan. With passenger numbers forecast to reach 26 million by 2030, it’s a vision for the future that is ambitious, achievable and sustainable. Not only are we looking to enhance the travel experiences of all our passengers, we are also taking into account social, economic and environmental issues.
