Regulation
Regulation is an important part of BAA’s business with the group owning some of the UK’s most critical transport infrastructure. Various UK regulatory bodies influence BAA’s operations including:
- The Department for Transport that is responsible for UK aviation policy
- The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the UK’s independent aviation sector regulator that, among other things, is responsible for the economic regulation of Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted airports
- The Competition Commission, that is involved in the price control determinations for the three London airports carried out typically every five years as well as being the UK’s overall competition regulator.
