Justine, duty manager airside

airside operations manager Justine's role as duty manager airside means she has responsibility for making sure our runways and airside areas are 100% safe at all times. Her career has progressed in new and exciting directions thanks to the training opportunities BAA provides.

James, fire fighter

fire fighterJames has been part of our fire service for seven years, having joined as a new recruit with an interest in aviation, as well as fire fighting. As well as a fantastic team atmosphere and plenty of training, James can see a clear route for his future career.

Laura, engineering apprentice

engineering apprentice Laura applied online and was successful in joining us as an engineering apprentice. During her four-year apprenticeship, Laura will learn about every area of electrical and mechanical engineering – and even earns a salary while she trains.

Giles, programme director

project directorGiles has worked for BAA for the past 24 years, having started his career as an apprentice. He is now in charge of £1 billion worth of vital infrastructure projects that are key to helping improve our airports for passengers.

Mariam, security officer

security guard Following her initial training – usually lasting from four to six weeks – Mariam joined BAA as a security officer helping to keep our airports safe and secure for passengers, whether they’re starting or finishing their journey with us.
