Technician
Across all our airports, keeping our buildings, facilities, vehicles and machinery in first-class working order is essential, which is why we’re always looking for people with technical experience in any area.
Primarily, every technician’s main function is to ensure BAA can provide a reliable service to anybody using our airports. Our technical division spans four main areas:
- Buildings and civil
- Electronic
- Vehicle maintenance
- Electrical and mechanical
These can include passenger facilities throughout the terminals, commercial tenants, airside operations and our vehicle fleets, all of which come together to ensure the airport runs smoothly.
As a member of our technician team, you will undertake any planned or reactive maintenance work that may be needed anywhere on site. Using our sophisticated workflow management system you’ll plan, assess and report on each job that is required, being proactive in dealing with every job that arises and promoting a safe working environment throughout all of our operational areas.
While we generally look for a good level of experience in a similar large-scale technical role, we also have many apprenticeship opportunities available. For the majority of vacancies, we look for a HNC or ONC qualification in an engineering discipline or a relevant City and Guilds certificate. This will form the starting point for your career with BAA, but we are also committed to extending your skills through formal training and development programmes in order to maintain the world-class technical capability that BAA is known for.
