Our stakeholders

Stakeholders are people and organisations who are affected by, or who can affect, a company's business.

The nature of our business means a wide range of stakeholders are interested in how we operate. It is vital that we engage our stakeholders in open and honest discussion and stay informed of their opinions, and we have a comprehensive programme to make sure that we do.

Our main stakeholders are:

Aviation industry: This includes airports, airlines, aircraft and engine manufacturers and air navigation service providers (such as the air traffic control service NATS in the UK).

Customers: These are our passengers, airlines, retailers and other tenants.

Employees: The thousands of staff members who work for BAA, our airports, Heathrow Express and our other businesses.

Government: The Government plays an important role in shaping our business through legislation and policy setting.

Local communities: Those people affected by our operations but who may also be employed at our airports.

Non-governmental organisations (NGOs): Community groups and national organisations often taking a particular interest in environmental issues.

Regulators: We are regulated by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the Competition Commission.

Suppliers: The companies that supply the goods and services we need to operate.

For more information please see the section about our stakeholders in our Corporate Responsibility Report.
