Gatwick investment in security
As part of Gatwick’s continued investment in security, refurbishment of the airport’s Northgate external control post is about to start. Facilities at Northgate, which manages the access route for retail stock to airside shops among other things, are to be improved to help keep the airport safe and secure and provide a high level of service to retail business partners and passengers.
Once work has been completed, the refurbished control post will help keep queueing down for vehicles going airside and will comply with new security checks being introduced across the BAA airports.
Works began on Monday 23 June and will last for six weeks until Friday 1 July. During this time, for two weeks between Monday 30 June and Friday 11 July, Northgate will be closed completely each day between 20:00 and 04:00 for work to be completed on the main search cabin. When the control post is closed, traffic will be diverted via Queen’s Gate.
BAA Gatwick apologises for any inconvenience caused by this essential work.
