Design and construction

As air travel becomes more popular, our airports need to develop and improve facilities to match these demands. Over the next ten years we plan to invest about £9.5 billion at our three London airports. At the same time, we aim to invest a further £200 million in our three Scottish airports and Southampton Airport.

Our biggest investments include:

• Heathrow Terminal 5
• The creation of Heathrow East - replacing the current Terminal 2 and Queens Building
• Development of Gatwick – enabling it to handle 40 million passengers a year by 2015
• Development of Stansted – towards our 35 million passenger target by 2014.

Together, these projects make us one of the UK's leading construction industry clients. But we always aim to get the best value – both in our overall strategy and efficiency – and to adopt a safe and sustainable approach to construction.
