Checking in
The check-in area for the North Terminal is on the third floor of the terminal building.
All flight numbers and destinations are displayed on the monitors at the entrance to the terminal, indicating which zone to check in at. Check-in zones (A, B, C etc) are clearly signposted by illuminated yellow cubes.
Please check your ticket or contact your airline for advice on checking in times, but as a general guide:
- Long-haul flights – check in three hours prior to scheduled departure.
- European flights – check in two hours before scheduled departure.
- UK and Ireland flights – check in one hour prior to scheduled departure.
Self service check-in*
Self service check-in (online and kiosk) is available to some passengers departing from Gatwick’s North Terminal and can be a great way to save time on your journey through the airport. To see if this currently applies to your airline and destination, please select the links below.
Day before check-in
Some passengers on early morning flights from South Terminal can check in the day before their departure. Find out more...
Boarding
Keep an eye on the television monitors listing flight departures for your destination, boarding time and gate number. Boarding usually begins around 45 minutes before departure. Please note that no flight calls are made at Gatwick, so it is important to watch the monitors closely.
*Please note that some passengers and flight destinations are not eligible for self service check-in. Please confirm if this service is available to you at the time of booking or visit the airline website to find out about service limitations. Please also note that passengers who have checked in online still have to arrive in good time for their flight – pay close attention to the times given by the airlines for dropping bags, collecting boarding cards and arriving at the gate.
