Water use
Did you know?
Aviation is attributable for 6% of the UK's total CO2 emissions.
Water use
A number of regions within the UK are already experiencing water shortages. These problems are likely to be exacerbated due to population increases and the effects of climate change. Airports, like many large businesses, use significant amounts of water, which can put pressure on the availability of clean water in the local area. Although this is not often the case in Scotland, in the south-east of England, airports have already faced drought restrictions.
Our approach
We aim to use water as sparingly as possible by reducing wastage and implementing water saving schemes. The key elements of our approach to water consumption are:
- Monitoring water use and improving leak detection
- Incorporation of low water use technologies into new building design
- Water conservation initiatives within the existing buildings where practical and financially viable.
